Fool's Gold
Fire, sparks and ancient mirrors.
Pyrite takes its name from the Greek pyr, "fire," because it throws sparks when struck against iron. It was used to light fires and served as mirrors for the Greeks, Romans and Incas, and its golden shine earned it the nickname Fool's Gold after fooling many beginner prospectors.
A common mineral of sedimentary and low-grade metamorphic rocks, pyrite grows in many forms, from massive clusters to pyritohedron and octahedral crystals, and twin cubes sometimes appear to grow one out of another.

A stone of manifestation, protection and vitality.
In crystal tradition, iron pyrite is believed to enhance manifestation, helping to bring desires and goals into reality, and is associated with positive thinking and confidence. It is known for its protective properties, said to shield against negative energies and psychic attacks and to create a protective field around the aura that brings a sense of safety and security.
It is also said to boost physical and mental vitality with a burst of energy and motivation, lifting stamina, focus and productivity for tasks that need mental clarity and concentration. Pyrite is commonly associated with the Solar Plexus chakra in the abdomen, believed to activate and energize it for personal power, self-confidence and the ability to manifest your intentions.
Through the ages, crystals have been collected and prized for their beauty, their rich history and their potential spiritual and metaphysical properties. We love the idea that crystals may hold mystical properties, though nothing we sell comes with a mystical guarantee.
