Citrine takes its name from the French citron, meaning lemon. Its golden glow is said to bring warmth, vitality, happiness and positivity to whoever sees or holds it, and it is associated with Demeter, Greek goddess of the harvest, grain and fertility.
Known as the Merchant's Stone for its link with wealth and prosperity, citrine is the crystal of manifestation, abundance and energy. Folklore says a piece in your money drawer keeps abundance flowing, and medieval Celts carried it as an amulet for good health. In crystal energy work it is linked with the solar plexus and said to awaken personal power.
Citrine is a variety of quartz. Natural citrine is one of its scarcest forms, and most citrine on the market is quartz heat-treated to its golden color; clear and darker amber stones are the most prized. Long exposure to sunlight can fade the color, so keep yours out of strong sun.
