Double refraction

Look through it and see everything twice.

Optical calcite is double refractive: anything you look at through it appears to be in two places at once. It can also polarize light, and stories tell of Vikings using it to navigate, finding the sun even in poor weather. Some historians believe it was the legendary “sunstone.”

The largest single calcite crystal ever found weighed 250 tons. Calcite is also put to work on the ground, used for soil stabilization, remediation and repair.

A stone for clear thinking.

Optical calcite is said to be good for clear thinking and clear decision-making, heightening your ideas and helping you see life in a new way. It is believed to cleanse the aura and the subtle energy levels, a reminder that you are a spiritual being on a human journey. In crystal energy work, because it splits light into its colors, it is said to energize, balance and cleanse all of your chakras.

Crystals have been prized for centuries for their beauty, their rich history and their believed metaphysical properties; Spirit Magicka makes no guarantee of any mystical or healing effect.
