The stone that does the hard job.

Industries around the world prize agate because it keeps its hardness and high polish and resists chemical attack; it is even used for the mortars and pestles in chemistry labs, crushing chemicals without being affected by them. Its name comes from the Greek philosopher Theophrastus, who found it along the shore of the Dirillo River, once called the Achates. Agates are a form of chalcedony, named after Chalcedon, an ancient port on the Sea of Marmara where stones were mined and traded. Because agates form on or within pre-existing rocks, their age is hard to date.

In crystal tradition, agate is a stone of stability, protection and clarity: deeply grounding and protective, said to balance mind, body and spirit so that you feel at peace, to help heal emotional traumas and to give you the courage to start again. Its many layers and bands are said to signify emotions coming to the surface to be accepted, and in ancient times wearing agate was believed to make the wearer friendly, truthful and persuasive, broadening their perspective on life.

Crystals have been prized for centuries for their beauty and believed metaphysical properties; Spirit Magicka makes no guarantee of any mystical or healing effect.
